This brings back sweet memories to me. Not the artificial stuff they call cinnamon now, but actual ground cinnamon. Wrapper has a devil's head printed and "Red Hot Chewing or Bubble Gum" printed on wrapper. 1980 was the last time I found Chum Gum. i used to buy it in houston, texas in the mid-sixties. One I believe was called Lollydrops. in order to get me int othe chair, he would coax me with either an Altoid or a Cert Spearmint. Wish the company would bring it back!!! I'm guessing it went under during World War 2 (sugar rationing), and Fleer simply tagged the stick bubble gum as such, legally. The only place I ever found Chum Gum. I just googled chum gum to see what I could find. One of my grandaughters has taken on the nickname of chiclet. The big size was our favorite too but the manufacturer reduced the size a few years ago. some one must have a stash somewhere! I would give anything to have a "chew" once again! This was good stuff. I'm using my nickname as a kid because Chum Gum takes me back to my childhood! I really miss the best gum ever made, Sugar Free Bubble Yum Bubble Gum Peppermint. One thing we did find to be interesting was the fact that people were still finding Chum Gum for sale almost 20 years after it was officially discontinued. Many people were still able to find the gum for up to 20 years after it had been discontinued. Wrigley recently secured a patent for a biodegradable gum. So nice that I am not imagining how good Chum Gum was and would order a box of it right now if I could find it. Fifty cents would get me a whole bag. The longer that plaque and tartar remain on your teeth, the more they irritate the gingiva, the part of your gum around the base of your teeth, causing inflammation. so much different than that plastic crap they call bubble gum now, With flavor that lasts for five minutes if you are lucky. Neisner was a New York based chain of variety stores, and the Racine store was downtown at 424 Main St. We used to buy two types of gum: Chum Gum and Devil Gum - I think it was made by the same company and was HOT cinnamon flavor. (Sigh), I grew up in upstate NY and LOVED Chum GUm. Fleer originally developed a bubble gum formulation called Blibber-Blubber in 1906. Fleer made the Chum Gum and it is now discontinued. I discovered them recently only to find out, you ran out of them. They lost sight of a historical favorite and it eventually was no longer popular or desired on the market.
